Be Alone Be Creative

“As I get older, I’m more and more comfortable being alone”- (Sienna Miller)

The norms of society, strong traditions and religious norms always make bound us with family, relatives, neighbors, groups, nations and then our global society (this lovely world). All these also provides us bad companies, bad companies environment and good companies too. But the new emerging e-system, social sites, social apps continuous encouraging us to connect with all above pillars with e-system.

“Autobiography begins with a sense of being alone. It is an orphan form”- (John Berger)

We are adopting new modern technologies and very speedily running away from physical relations. We have no time to meet with family, friends and relatives to discuss our own matters, but we have enough time to discuss globalization issue on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Blogs and many other sources.

“I love to be alone. I never found the companion that was so companionable as solitude” (Henry David Thoreau)

I am not encouraging youth to live alone because there are so many benefits for people being involved in social interactions. Because, by evolutionary experience of depending upon each other, we are a social species and we are affiliating with others for our very survival in a harsh world. In a society like America’s, it can be sublime and revealing to enjoy your time alone.
But, on other hands, “the creature of this beautiful world is alone” and there are amazing benefits we can avail through spending time alone. Leave bad companies and be alone be creative: As Amy Sedaris said, “I think it’s good for a person to spend time alone. It gives them an opportunity to discover who they are and to figure out why they are always alone”.

  1. I love your list! I was once a social butterfly. I had so many groups of friends in my younger years. And I couldn’t imagine being alone because they won’t leave me alone! But now that I’m older, I use my time alone to be creative, to reserve my energies for priorities, and yes, I enjoy my own company because I was supposed to be an introvert that was forced to become extroverted by peers!

    • Thank you CA for your for your comprehensive feedback… I have also crossed the 40, but since my college age I tried to use few minutes/hours alone and speak with myself …….

  2. I have always enjoyed spending time alone, though I never get much because I am usually surrounded by my kids. Lately, though, with the current world events and social distancing, I am missing getting out with my friends. Generally speaking, though, I love this article! It’s spot on.

  3. I was once an extrovert turned into introvert. I love to talk to people especially if the subject makes sense. Although I want some good chit chats, most of the time, I am just quiet but still, I love observing my environment. I love those who silently do their job and accomplish them at the end of the day instead of those who complain endlessly but never gets a job done. 🙂

  8. I am an introvert so my alone time is super important to me because it helps me to recharge and to be super productive. Crowds are not a great place for but I don’t mind speaking on stage. Weddings where I know people can also be a lot of fun. I do enjoy the quiet time so that I can read a lot.

  9. I love being alone. If you can’t love your own company, how can you love being with others? The former has to come first before the latter will ever happen.

  10. I am a firm believer in the importance of finding a balance between connection with our loved ones and spending time on my own. This gives me the chance to center myself and reconnect with myself as well, which is also an important relationship in my life – the relationship with myself!
